Guitarist/vocalist John Renaud and drummer Scott Witzenburg originally started practicing together in 2005. Not long after, bassist Casey Hamilton came on board.

The trio settled on the name "bridgework" and played their first show on October 14, 2005. Their second show was November 19, 2005 which also featured Jennifer Stewart on guitar and keys.

Casey left the band early in 2006, and Erik Kutzler soon joined in on bass.
Jack Sparks also came on board mid 2006, and the quartet was soon playing out.

In August of 2007, bridgework started work on their first official EP "World Disappears". The five song EP was recorded, mixed, and produced entirely by the band at their rehearsal space in Los Angeles. John utilized his art background to paint and design the album artwork. "World Disappears" was released on February 26, 2008.

Bridgework continues to hone their blend of indie rock, punk, and alternative while working on a second EP scheduled for release in 2009.
